What I Wore: The Best Shorts and Sandals For Summer

What is your day-to-day style in the summer? With Memorial Day behind us, June is ushering in the summer, which means mostly shorts and sandals for me. However, that doesn't mean that layering is last season. Today's outfit is the perfect example of what I like to wear in summer. It's casual but cute enough to meet up with someone. And of course, it's comfortable enough to wear all day long. What makes this outfit so comfortable? It's all about the shorts and the shoes...

The Izzy Slides

The Izzy sandals c/o Aetrex Shoes, have their signature arch support, adjustable straps across the foot for a more customized fit, and of course a smooth, soft footbed. I started this outfit with the shoes in mind. The snake print and rose gold color inspired me to go for olive green and peach colors.

The Bernie Shorts

I purchased this particular pair of shorts during one of XCVI's clearance sales. I already had a similar pair so I was confident these would be comfortable. The elastic, drawstring waist is the secret to their comfort, in my opinion. We can also add light cotton material to their recipe for comfort. The preppy style khaki and tabbed hem make these the perfect classic pair of shorts for summer!

My husband caught this fish and then called me over and told me to post with it. I think he'd love it if I went fishing with him. I might have to accommodate that. Especially considering how often he takes blog photos for me!

Style Takeaway

A classic pair of khaki shorts are a closet staple. However, that doesn't mean you can't get away with a drawstring waist over the button-up!
Get back out your rose gold. Did it go out of style? Not to my knowledge, but I've personally neglected this gorgeous color.
A peach pink looks amazing with rose gold!
My three coordinating pieces were the shoes, watch and shades. The shorts ended up being a bonus.
