A Pop Of Color For a Muted Look

graphic tee that says GRACE
Leather Jacket / /  / / GRACE Tee c/o Sweet Soul // Kavalier Pant c/o XCVI // Divina Boots

Did you catch last week's post on my three automatic steps to elevate casual style with flare pants and a plaid top? Well, today's feature elevates a muted look with a pop of color. In addition, I'm also featuring a graphic tee from a new to me online boutique called Sweet Soul Clothing Co.  This company is family-owned, has organic cotton-based designs and supports TISSO, an orphanage in India.

The Style

Soft white, black and grey contrast smoothly, making my wine colored accents festively pop for the season. I could have stopped with one accent with my chosen color, but I think three added more interest to the overall look! That means my latest Divina boots, the one bracelet I have in that color and my Aldo bag!

The Top & The Pants

The high-quality material is apparent the moment you touch this fabric. It carresses my skin and there's not an irritating seam or itchy spot on it. As for the pants, they are c/o XCVI from last year but are available in other colors HERE.  They have an elastic waistband in the back but button in the front. As is usual for XCVI, there's extra detailing beginning with the wash, grommets on the pockets and a raw hem on the hips.

The Message

What we wear sends a message or two, whether there's wording or not. However, today's tee obviously makes a statement regarding "GRACE.". What does that even mean? There's the grace of a ballerina, but on a closer look, we see Ephesians 2:8 taking the meaning of this tee to a whole other level.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your doing; it is the gift of God.

GRACE. - Unmerited Favor

I'd like to take a moment to emphasize the period. There's no if, ands, or buts about it. The Bible clearly states that we do not earn our way to God's love or earn our way into heaven. It is the saving grace of God, the free (to us) gift of Jesus that we claim through faith. A faith in God should drive my actions to good works, but my good works are not enough to measure up. I just can't in and of myself be good enough for a holy and perfect God.

I've broken every commandment. What about murder you say? Jesus states in Matthew 5:15-21 that those angry with his sister or brother are in danger of judgement. And I John 3:15 says that one who hates their brother or sister is a murderer.  So looks like I didn't even escape that one becuase I've been self-righteously angry before as well as angry enough to hate before. ;) God sees and looks at the heart. I've been able to put on a good show at times, but God always knows my motives.

And grace does not end at the moment of salvation. It is a daily need. It is a daily outpouring of His unmerited favor. And I deserve it no less or no more today than I did yesterday. Love from, and of, the God of the universe is available to all who desire it. And this is made evident through the Christmas story.

How?

God chose common and unremarkable people to carry out the Promise of a Savior. Mary was not a princess awaiting a prince. She was young and common. Joseph wasn't a prince in line to be king. He was a simple carpenter. And when it came time for Jesus to be born, God chose to announce the miraculous, glorious birth to a group of "lowly", even more common, shepherds. Did you know that in those days a shepherd's testimony was not even admissible in court? They were dirty, smelly and low on the economic scale. And yet, God chose them to announce the greatest news this world has ever heard.  That is another picture of grace my friends.

The angel said, I bring you good news of great joy, which shall be to ALL people. (Luke 2)

What good news indeed! I want in. I want in on the free gift. I want in on the grace. If you ever have questions about God, faith, the Bible, I'm happy to share more! ;) Have a wonderful week and a Merry Christmas!
