Hello lovelies! How was your weekend? I hope you felt loved this weekend no matter your current role in life (i.e. momma, daughter, etc). I want to tell you all about my weekend, but I'll piece it apart, post by post, to do each event justice. Now before I delve in, I must say that today's post is inspired by Laura and her "3 Things..." questions so you'll find her prompt at the end of this post with my responses. Thank you Laura for being wonderful you!
As I mentioned, the weekend was full - activity with kiddos, blogger events and meet ups and lots of family time on Sunday. At the Sip & Mingle event, I received a VIP pass for TWO from Visit Sarasota with a long list of places I could visit around town. The only tricky part is the pass is only good for four days! How would I take full advantage, having a family of six AND a packed full weekend? Well, this is an adventure I'm all about! (If only I didn't have so much on the calendar this week!) No matter, I'm determined and that determination meant a mini-adventure for my youngest and I...
Quick Visit To Marie Selby Botanical Gardens
My plan is to grab a boy and hit a different place each day. Even if it's only for an hour, we will at least get a taste of some of Sarasota's best spots! We had slightly less than an hour when we pulled up to the gardens so we made it into an adventure. My sweet boy took pics for me in between running around the tree houses, etc. I'll start with those and no worries, I'll not overload you with pictures of flowers (However, check out my Instagram for story clips!!).That's something you must come and see for yourself. It's an oasis out there; another world that you can get lost in.

Now for a Few pics of Cutie...
This is a great place for ANY age! There's places for kids to play and explore and enough beauty to help you escape a little modern world reality!
Thank you Visit Sarasota for the adventures with my youngest! We can't wait to go back to the gardens...a season pass may be in our future. ;) And if you're looking to travel through Sarasota, their website is the perfect place to start.
Now for the 3 Things!
1. Well, I love the look of flowers. Oh how I love a beautiful garden. But alas, it would seem I'm doomed to a life of observing the handiwork of other gardeners. I forget to water my plants all to often, not to mention the poor amount of research and planning I put into it. Perhaps when all my birdies leave nest, I'll improve on my skills!
2. Here in Sarasota, the summer kick off has launched well into sweltering. I'm itching to get over to the beach once the crowds simmer off for a week or so after Memorial Day, but there's that bathing suit issue I have - I need a new one! As for our summer, I'm prepared for a flurry of activity with all the camps our church hosts. In addition to our church, hubby is speaking for a few youth camps here and there, so I'm not sure what I'll do then. Adventure time! ha!
3. Though my parents didn't separate until my later teens, my dad traveled frequently so my mom single parented more often than not. She worked hard to make ends meet, but in spite of that she tried to keep fun and adventure in our lives. Whether it be trips to a public lake, water parks, playing baseball with us or hide and seek, and even vacations when she could afford it, she made sure we experienced life out of our four walls. I'm quite sure this is where I get my penchant for adventure - big or small and an itch to experience new things.
Sounds like you had a fun and packed weekend! That floral dress is so cute on you and I love your earrings! Such a good idea to do a different activity with each of your boys everyday to take advantage of that pass!

Oh that itch for adventure, I know it all too well thanks to my dad!!! Thankful for the adventures we were able to do when we were all younger. lol . Love you and your blog!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have the best time wherever you go Chrissy!!! This reminds me of the time we were at Butchart Gardens and I had a TON of flower photos. Like I'd never seen them in my life...ha ha!! But they are SO pretty!!

What a fun adventure day with your son! It's so sweet to have moments like this and explore together. I love how you accessorized with white pieces. It stands out beautifully against your pretty floral dress. Your mom sounds like an amazing woman and she raised such a beautiful person. Grace, happy belated Mother's Day! I enjoy seeing the beautiful blooms and keep thinking I should have a few in our backyard but every time, it just wilts and dies too! Sigh...I own cacti now and love their low maintenance appeal. Of course, not the same as a colorful bouquet but I am proud to say, at least my cacti is 9 years old! Hehe. Happy Monday!

Wow - 4 days to use all the fun offers? Good idea, taking each boy on an outing! That sounds so special. I am so impressed with your son's photography skills - what an absolute LOVE he is! You were dressed just right for the botanical gardens in that pretty floral frock!

ReplyDeleteLovely dress and I'm glad you enjoyed your day at Selby Gardens!
ReplyDeleteBe the belle of the ball this season ladies
ReplyDeleteThe Selby Gardens looks fun and beautiful! I'm with you- I'll stick to observing the work of other gardeners since I don't have much success in that department. It was also fun to learn more about your childhood and the experiences your mom gave you. She sounds like a very dedicated, hard working woman!
ReplyDeleteHey, friend! I'm so glad you got to pop out and enjoy the botanical garden. Good luck with finding a new bathing suit! I'm sure you'll have better luck than me with your cute figure. Hugs!
