A Clean Home, Naturally by Simply Earth Essential Oils

Ya'll! I do have oils for that - my own laundry detergent. I made my own laundry detergent and dishwashing detergent! I've officially plunged deep into the world of natural this month. When I opened this month's box, I danced. Who gets that excited over house cleaning products? I guess I do! Throwing together my own laundry detergent has been on my "try it" list since the twins were babies. Where does the time go? And thank you Simply Earth for putting together such a fabulous recipe box just in time for spring cleaning!

My friends, please join me for a review on Simply Earth's April box with four powerful essential oils, six creative recipes and bonus items! Also, be sure to look for a coupon code at this end of the post to receive this great box PLUS a bonus box of freebies, PLUS a $20 electronic credit to their online shop for only $39

What's In it?

Those Powerful Oils:

Lemon Essential Oil: derived from the fruit peel of a lemon, it cleans while uplifting and calming.
Tea Tree Oil: powerful cleaner, respiratory supporter, and an essential oil staple for the home
Nutmeg: spicy and woodsy scent that blends well with other oils
BO Be Gone Blend: mix of Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Lavender, and Sweet Orange that reduces body odor but can also be used to clean the home

Bonus Items:
Castile Soap
Spritzer Bottle
6 Recipe Cards
Decorative Labels

What YOU will need on hand:
Borax (Target, Lowes, etc)
Washing Soda (at Lowes)
Fels-Naptha Bar Soap (at Lowes)
Epsom Salt
A Pump Soap Dispenser (found mine at the dollar store, even better if you have one laying around)

Those Recipes!

Easy Peasy, My Home Smells Fresh & Clean!

Two drops of lemon oil, one drop of nutmeg oil and one drop of tea tree oil made my home smell fresh enough to elicit compliments from the teens. That says much!

Brighten and Freshen Up Natural Laundry Detergent

Tonight I sat curled up on our small couch with the younger boys and the dog watching Aquaman. As I cozied up I couldn't help but take in the gratifying aroma of my freshly laundered blanket. This was from my second load of laundry with Simple Earth's recipe for homemade detergent. Why did I wait so long to do this? My whole family looked at me like I was crazy as I walked around the house sniffing all the clean laundry. It made me feel independent. Isn't that funny?

This recipe may burn a few calories as you grate up a whole bar of soap. I'd say that's a bonus!

Essential oils

So Many Stains - Laundry Stain Remover Roll On

This month's roll on is a laundry stain remover. I decided to test it out on mascara left on my pillow case, which came out in the wash. However, I also used the natural laundry detergent so I'm not sure which one did the trick. Time will tell!

Why Do You Use So Many Cups In a Day? - Dishwashing Detergent!

This was another recipe I've had on my list of things to try and I'm elated to check it off the list. Like a child with a new toy, I loaded my dishwasher and hyped up the finish to the boys. They joined me in the reveal. Would the dishes actually be clean?? I'm happy to give a squeaky clean report. Some of the glasses had a few cloudy spots, so I will add 1/2 cup of white vinegar as directed on the next year! This recipe will be repeated!

Clean Them Up Buttercup - Foaming Hand Soap

I found a soap dispenser at the Dollar Store and experienced another DIY first in the form of hand soap. My cheaply made dispenser (duh!) didn't have the largest opening for adding ingredients, so I made a mess with the Castile soap, which turns out to be an important ingredient to get those suds going. The finished product was too watery so I added more Castile soap, which improved the consistency.  Thankfully the bottle contains enough to make two 8oz dispensers with. All that being said, my hands felt clean and soft after washing.

Dog Is Counter Surfing Again - Tea Tree and Lemon Surface Cleaner

We catch our dog nosing around the counters all the time. That will be next on the training list, but until then I'll clean up after her just like I do with the rest of the household. ;) Now, I've been told that tea tree is not safe for pets to ingest or absorb so I don't spray it when she's around.

Success - I completed every one!

I truly enjoy each box that Simply Earth sends my way, but I love how practical this box is for my day to day life around the home. We have another winner!

Ok my friends, Simply Earth gifted me this box to review and I am thrilled to partner with them each month. I love the heart of their company (13% of profits goes to organizations that fight against sex trafficking) and their mission to educate and provide the supplies for a more natural home.

Now here's that code I mentioned:  Use code GRANOLAANDGRACEFREE  with a subscription purchase at Simply Earth for a FREE initial bonus box AND a $20 gift card towards anything in their shop...more oils, a storage box, a diffuser, jewelry, etc!

Thank you so much for reading. If you missed it, I featured our trip to SeaWorld on Monday and some Boho Style with Lucky Brand finds on Wednesday! Your comments mean the world to me.
