"Honey, do these boyfriend jeans look silly on me?" In a moment of fashion doubt, I asked my hubby what he thought of the baggy fit of my new jeans. He surprised me with a positive response. Why did I buy a pair of jeans that I wasn't 100% sure about?
Well, it all started in the Lucky Brand Clothing store - my new favorite place. You see, the right personality approached me and we began chatting about the tees that I recently acquired. Then we quickly moved on to all the jeans that were on sale for $25, and would I like to try the fits? I had extra time and was solo.
Sure. Thanks!
After trying on several cuts, I landed on this boyfriend pair. My legs felt instant joy over the soft denim; like a gentle caress. But goodness, they are nothing like my skinny jeans, naturally. I tucked in my white shirt and grabbed two pairs of shoes.
With just the right amount of affirmation from the rep, I tried different tops, kimonos, belts, etc.
Another patron enters the dressing rooms. She's adorable and stylish.
"Do you think these look too big on me?" I ask shyly.
"Well, I wear lose fitted clothing so no. I think those look cute on you."
And that was the end of that.
There was more I wanted to take home with me...the tops, kimono, AND another pair of jeans that I liked but there are budget limits, right? Besides, Mom Rowden and I had already popped in here once and left with this tee, as well as another. I'll be back Lucky Brand for the next sale for sure!
It didn't take me long to style these puppies, and my hubby happened to be with me the first time I wore them so...He's so blessed! Wink. Those jeans were incredibly comfortable all day long. I've already worn them three times since their purchase last week! If I had a complaint it would be that the wide legged, frayed hem are not as versatile as boyfriend jeans you could roll up. Didn't think about that.As for the rest of the outfit, all but the tee was shopped from my closet!

Though it was overcast, things started heating up with the sticky delight of humidity so the kimono soon came off...Dipping into the aquarium (see what I did there?)...
Have a fabulous day!

Those jeans are so cute! I love the frayed bottoms.
ReplyDeleteThank you Heather! I pretty much wore them all last week!
DeleteGreat job styling these Chrissy! They look fantastic. I wold like a pair of loose jeans like this, seems finding just the right kind of baggy is tricky, ya know? I went through a Lucky Brand love affair some years ago. I still have a pair of their jeans. I think you have found your soul mate of brands in Lucky!

ReplyDeleteI dont see a kimono now & not think of you!!! They are just your style!!!
I know. Why did I wait so long. Oh, because I felt like I looked ridiculous in the last pair I owned and sent them off to goodwill. lol And thank you, I am not sure how long kimonos will be in style but I sure hope it's a few years more.
DeleteI'm a Lucky Brand aficionado! My current favorite jeans are from them. I don't have their boyfriend's, though! You look adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou should def try the boyfriend jeans though I recommend styling them a size down!

DeleteHold the phone, these jeans were $25? OH MY GRAVY. I love them so much. I can see what you mean about the raw hem and the wider ankle but that fit is so comfy and yet stylish. Your feminine floral tee and that kimono...that kimono!...make such a fun play between boyfriend and feminine. A+ outfit.

Yes! Refreshing is the perfect word. I think I was in major need of refresh. It's almost sad - I've worn those jeans ALL week. lol. no i haven't washed them either.
DeleteIn the world of fashion, styles may come and go over the decades, but jean has always retained their popularity.

Thank you Elise. You know I love your style! :)
DeleteI'm so excited you are loving your new jeans. I don't think they'd work on me #short but they're cute on you friend. XO
ReplyDeleteI can see where height could make them a challenge, though I've noticed that there are several different cuts and levels of baggy, which might make a difference. Lisa, I want to see a post on how petites can pull off boyfriend jeans. lol
DeleteNothing feels better than a good pair of jeans. You can't beat that gentle cotton feel on the skin. This pair of boyfriend jeans does look comfy...and you wear them so well. You look fantastic! love your printed top and cardi you paired it with... I think there are a lot of fun ways to wear a boyfriend jeans. It's all about finding the pair that works for us and then figuring out how to wear them.
