January's subscription box awaits! (If you missed my intro to Simply Earth's EOs, hop on over HERE!) Is one of your goals to have a healthier you? So often we focus our health efforts solely on food and exercise. While this positively integral, our largest organ is often neglected! Once upon a time no one questioned sulfates, acetone, fragrance and ethanol in the ingredient lists of skin care, cosmetics and shampoos. Even now, when I know those chemicals are harmful, I still continue to use them from time to time. Factors such as cost, convenience and dare I say, "results" often steer me to fabricated, but luscious scents to achieve my dream skin and hair.
Now let's go back to the fact that I said we focus so much on the food and exercise that we overlook what we are putting on the outside. If you're thinking, but Chrissy, what goes on the inside completely effects how we look and feel on the outside!
Yes! I 100% agree. I'm convinced that if I ate a clean diet through and through, drank all the water my body needed and remained active that I'd be far ahead of the stay young race and my skin would be a glowing beacon of dewy perfection. However, a perfectly clean way of eating isn't even on my goal list yet. #facts That being said, while I need to work on what goes in my body, I also need to cautiously assess what I'm slathering my biggest organ with.
January Box
Alright, enough of that. Let's get to why I got on my skincare soap box. Pun intended and fabulously inspired by Simply Earth's subscription for January!
This month's oils are:
Ravensara, Bergamont, Myrhh and their Farewell Scars Blend.
The bonus items are tapioca pearls, a body bar mold and two lip balm containers. As soon as I opened the box, I smiled at the adorable designs for the month's labels and recipe cards. It's no surprise that they would choose a form of self care for January and since "A Healthier Me" is one of my goals I feel like I have a head start.
As always, I started with the diffuser blend recipe, which called for the Bergamot and Ravensara oils and then went on to throw together the roll on for the month, which uses the "farewell scars" blend. As you can see pictured below, I've added another burn from the oven and will be applying this roll on daily in hopes for faster healing then my burn from last winter.
Speaking of hands, mine are surprisingly dry considering the warmer climate I'm currently living in so I made the body butter my next recipe to try. It's another recipe with Bergamot and Ravensara, which smells wonderful together.
I enlisted a helper to mix up the coconut oil and almond oil into a tantalizing texture for the skin! Side note: the coconut oil and almond oil came with my first subscription box in what they call the bonus box. It's FREE with your subscription order and also comes with other supplies you'll need to complete recipes in future boxes.
Look how beautiful it turned out! I was so proud of myself, as this was my first time making my own body butter.
I use 4oz jars by Ball from Ace Hardware, but Amazon has quite a few varieties! ;)
I still have the lip balms, sugar scrubs and the body bar to finish and I can't wait. Since I homeschool, I use the recipes as extra learning opportunities and practice with measurements (and following directions for the boys). I'm not a baker or crafter so this takes the place of those activities for me, all the while making natural and safe products that are GOOD for us!! WIN, WIN!
This Month's Charity Organization & Coupon Code
Every month, Simply Earth features an organization that fights against sex trafficking. This month they are partnered with New Colossus, out of Denver. Their goal is to educate youth on how to steer clear from exploitation. I guess in this case, knowledge is power - OR freedom.
Simply Earth gifted me this box to review and share and I am thrilled to continue to partner with them each month. I love the heart of their company and their mission to educate and provide the supplies for a more natural home. I

There are so many diffusers to choose from and at affordable prices. It seem like you can get them everywhere now! They are especially great when someone gets sick...I run mine nonstop in hopes to kill germs and keep the air clean.
DeleteThat looks like fun! It something that is fun to do with girlfriend too! Hope to see you on my Fancy Friday linkup party!
ReplyDeleteHI! This would be great to do with a girlfriend, especially this month. I could grab a few extra containers and host a girls night. Man, Nancy! Thanks for the idea...:)
DeleteI've heard a lot about these EOs lately, and I love how high-quality they sound! That scar product sounds amazing, too! Since my knee surgery last year, I've been looking for ways to minimize the prevalence of those scars, so I'd love to learn more about that! Love!
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! It's so nice to have you by the blog! Sorry to hear about a knee surgery, but I hope that means that you're walking around pain free now?? You've inspired me to be more consistent with the application of the roll on with this specific scar and to test it out on an older scar! Then I should give an update! Thank you for visiting AND for inspiring. :)
DeleteSeriously that body butter is my favorite thing I have made from my subscription boxes!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt. I saw that you use it on your feet at night before bed - great idea! Thanks for stopping by Heather, always a pleasure. :)
