How I'm Styling For Fall In The Florida Heat

When you're hot, hot, hot! It's the first "official" day of fall but Florida most certainly missed the memo. However, I hear that my Georgia friends feel the same way.  Perhaps by next week we may see temps dip down into the lower 80s. Hmmmmmm. Until then, I'll be faking it by wearing hot styles in cool weather colors. Won't you join me today for how I'm styling for fall in the Florida heat and yet another Costco find? You're the best!

I start my fake-out hunt with a color search in my closet.  What will pass on this year's Pantone color chart for fall, while keeping me cooler in the heat of the day (Cuz I'm not going to say "cool" #wishfulthinking)? My eyes hover in the dresses section.  Dresses have lots of air flow; sleeveless is even better.  With only a few dresses to choose from, it doesn't take me long to reach for my latest and greatest.

My latest and greatest. Did you catch that? It's another bargain find from Costco for $7.00! Please, let me take a moment to wear this goofy, giddy, girly smile. You know I love a good find, and you may recognize the style of this dress from previous posts. Yep. You've seen this number in white with grey stripes - click here for a peek. Anyway, this Florida heat has me throwing my leg insecurities to the wind and embracing dresses!

I grab my lightweight utility jacket from GAP for the great indoors, where air conditioning temps contrast dramatically with the heat.

Alright, here are those fall colors from Pantone in case you want to go see what's in your closet.

...I'm going for fall's "Tawny Port" with this dress! Close enough I say and, again, that sleeveless cut helps me with a sizzling afternoon. The shoes are a cross between boots and a sandal and my jewelry selection is light and easy. I chose my giving key necklace and layered it with a longer chain I received as a gift from a friend. The beaded bracelets are easy and stretchy with an array of colors that suit fall perfectly.

So, if you're experiencing a heat wave, stay cool with color and fabricate fall style with me in dresses, skirts and shorts. I look forward to seeing your style! Have a wonderful day my friend and tell me how you beat the heat! :)

  1. You nailed it friend, that is how we do fall here! Dresses in fall colors! They are so much cooler than shorts. It's going to be cooler this weekend here in Orlando. Get ready for it: it will be 91 rather than 96 with the heat index that makes it feel like 101! Can't wait to cool off on our trip!
