The 5x5 Style Challenge: Part 2

Hey, hey! I'm back with part two of this fun, but stretching 5x5 style challenge. Though I found myself making a fashion error or two during this challenge I committed to see it through.  Let's hear it for the disorganized giving organization a try! And thank you for joining me on the second half of my first ever  5x5 challenge - hey, I must celebrate the small victories!
Day 3: Striped Turtleneck & Green Denim

This is probably one of my go-to styles, as I love casual with a touch of edgy. Today proved to be a quick throw together. Once I decided on my black adidas sneaks I just kept the grey-black-white theme going...

Outfit Breakdown:
Cardigan: American Eagle - OLD
Striped T-Neck: GAP
Distressed Denim: Marisa Jill's Boutique
Shoes: Adidas

Day 4: The Dress Layered With the Plaid Top

I think this is where the real challenge began...I've not yet had to change up the pieces. I wore the dress and a pant and top combo twice. Day four rolls around and now it's time to mix it up.  I suppose I could just reach for the green denim, but I wanted to play around with layering the dress since the colors worked so well together.

What do you think a pair of blush or purple tights would look like with this outfit? I was "chatting" with Shelbee, from Shelbee on the Edge, on her recent post where she wore navy tights. She has the best selection in shoes and accessories! Anyway, I confessed my lack of color options in the realm of tights. I think this is a perfect example of why I need color tights!

Overall, I'm happy with how this outfit turned out but the tights nag at me...

Outfit Breakdown
Green Utility Jacket: the GAP
Plaid Top: Francesca's
Dress: Hand-Me-Down
Purse: B Markowsky (OLD)
Statement Necklace: English Rose
Leather Earrings: Brinley & Co

Day 5: Striped Turtleneck With Coated Denim

I did it! Yes! Day 5 was thrilling... maybe it was because I knew the challenge was complete.  There would be no prize or recognition, just the personal satisfaction of pushing beyond my self-imposed limitations and seeing it through to the end - even if it was only 5 days. Ha!

As for this outfit, I reached for my neglected chambray blazer and finished off the look with some neutral accessories, save for the surprise pop of pink. One chunk of hair kept slipping out of my pinned-side pony but oh well. It just wouldn't be more if there wasn't something out of place!

Outfit Breakdown:
Chambray Blazer: Banana Republic
Striped Top: the GAP
Coated Denim: WHBM
Shoes: Clarks
Pink Earrings: Plunder
Bracelet: Earth Angel
Belt: LOFT
Purse: the GAP (SIMILAR)

All 5 Outfits Together...

To celebrate this small achievement I made a pit stop at Splat Cakes...(If you haven't heard about what brought on these cupcake adventures, check out my original post HERE.)

...as it turns out I know someone that works in a bridal and prom dress shop that is right across the street from Splat! She's been there all along. Well, I can't resist a new "victim" of my cupcake adventures so I picked out a chocolate and headed over to the fancy dress shop.

Amy knew what I was there for the moment she spotted me in the store. After all, I'm not in the market for a wedding dress and I've no daughters to go prom dress shopping for. That just leaves a cupcake delivery. ;) However, before I left the store I had to try on some of the goods!

Meet the adorable and sweet Amy. Whenever I see her she wears the most beautiful smile! And look! She's wearing one of my favorite colors - olive green.

Well, that's all my friends! Thank you for joining me for my 5x5 style adventures (if you missed the first one, click HERE) , as well as my cupcake adventures from week to week! I hope you have a wonderful day!!

    1. Hey Recca! I'm so glad you asked...I completely forgot to link that. It's from the GAP. I purchased it online during their clearance sales. There's one similar that they have reduced...http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1088533&pcid=1088544&vid=1&pid=282009012

  7. I love this, I don't have the guts to try it! But maybe one day...I will try this. I did do one where we got to pick out 5 and we had to wear at least one of those 5 things for a month...it was hard. But I did it and I didn't want to do that again! haha. Or maybe next time chose wiser. But to this day every time I wear a certain t-shirt I think...why did I pick this t-shirt to wear for a month?! haha. You did great with the challenge! Congrats! So when's the next one?

    1. That's exactly how I felt! You definitely should because, one, I know you'll do great and , two, you'll find more options in your closet that you didn't know you had. It's great practice for trip packing too. BUT A MONTH??? I don't have the guts to try that. I'll see when the next one is and let you know for sure. Thank you for stopping by Sarah! :)

  10. You did it! Good for you! And you did a fabulous job! I think you did a GREAT job with the outfit with the tights! It totally rocked in my opinion. I agree, Shelbee has some totally awesome things. But, you still totally worked this. (My tights collection stinks, too, but to be quite frank, I have trouble finding tights that fit me because of my miniature size. They tend to reach my neck!)That last outfit was completely awesome! Those earrings! Well...c'mon! FABULOUS!

    1. Yes. Yes I did. Yay! And thank you for the encouragment on the tights. I get frustrated with those kind of details. Once I'm out I just own it. lol. The pink earrings are by plunder and they are only $8! I've lost count of how many times I've worn them!
