Thrifted Or Gifted, Featuring: Buffalo Plaid

Why hello! While preparing to work on this blog post today I received a notification from my computer warning me that my storage is filling up. Sigh. I should already have a system in place, but computer clean up is not my favorite. However, I'm working on it, but loading photos into organized albums on Google Photos as I go along. Now I just need to start transferring and deleting from my computer, which is about 6 years old now. What storage system do you use? Dropbox? Google? Inquiring, unorganized minds would love to know!

Anyhoo, the storage notification pulled me into the abyss of old photos and videos. I knew I shouldn't watch them but I couldn't help myself. My cuties were small again; giggling and laughing over the silliest of things. The adorable toddlers (for that clip anyway!) took turns hiding under a blanket, believing that we could no longer see them and we happily fed that lie...

"Where's Caden?? Where's Evan??"

They'd pop out from under their blanket, smiling ear to ear and laughing in delight. I wonder if they thought we were the ridiculous ones. Of course this game is universal when you're 2 and it can go on for what seems like hours. Those were such special days. I love the moments I have now, but I can't help but get misty eyed watching them at that stage.

Ahem. Okay. Enough of the sappy and sentimental! I intended to share about the thrifted, gifted and lifted. I know. That sounds like I stole some items. I can assure you I did not. However, what's the saying when you scored a price so low??

"I got it for a steal."

That's exactly how I felt about these $5, thrifted moto boots from Clothes Mentor. (Click here to see how I styled them in the previous post.) The white tee was another great buy at the GAP. Don't worry I'm not weighed down by any bargain-snatching guilt. The more the merrier, though I understand places can't stay in business if I try live on "steals" alone.

Scotty Dogs Make this Plaid Fun

Now how about this buffalo plaid with Scotty dogs all over it?? Too cute. This is about as close to owning a dog I think we will get.  It was a Christmas gift, along with the stretchy pants. Though this shirt was from last year, we all know that buffalo plaid is everywhere this year. Don't you love when last year finds are even bigger the next year?

Of course I cannot close without touching on the accessories. The hematite combined with the silver completed this casual ensemble, but I think adding a pair of black or red pumps with the right handbag or clutch would elevate this get up for an evening look.  Earning the jewelry through my efforts in Premier makes this outfit around a $15 out of pocket investment, not counting the backpack purse I wear all the time. Though the cost per wear has got to be a low figure by now! ;)

Well, my friends do you enjoy thrift shopping and what's the best deal you've scored lately? And if you'd like a little Christmas cheer check out the continuing saga of my Christmas tree and cupcake adventures below. :)

Much love,

Chrissy

  1. So glad that your friends and family are having such a wonderful Holiday season. As for storage, I use Google Drive. It's only $2 a month for like 500gb and like $9 for like 1TB. I use it because I can see the photos on all my devices.

  2. Just when I think I have this blog stuff figured out I learn about something else I need to do. Storage! Who knew? Here I am just snapping away and blogging away without a care in the world. Guess I better start figuring this out too, let me know what you do and I'll copy you, lol!
I think your buffalo plaid shirt is terrific on you and I didn't even notice the Scotty Dogs till you pointed it out. I have one similar from Old Navy minus the dogs. I love wearing it but I usually only wear it with black jeans, guess I need to think of other ways to wear it.
You are so pretty Chrissy, inside and out. Yes, isn't it amazing to look at pictures and videos of your babies? There's just nothing better than a trip down memory lane or actually a trip to the University of Florida to pick up my son - which I am doing tommorrow!!! Yay!

    1. Kellyann, you're the sweetest! Thank you so much. And I'm so excited for you and your special day to get your boy. :) I'm sure I'll see some pictures here and there.

At this point, I've loaded the Google photos app on my phone so that any pictures I take on my phone automatically upload to it. Later I go and organize them according to blog, cupcake adventures, family etc! ;) It works great if you one blogger because when you're uploading photos you can select "Google Album Archive" and any photos you've organized into albums come up. From there it's an easy grab! Bonus, you can do this from any device!

  3. Ahhh, the storage issues! I hate the technical stuff! Thankfully I'm married to an engineer and he takes care of all of that for me!
So cool to see someone else getting into thrifting! Be careful! It's addicting! Probably my best deals of late have been my Prada purse that I found for $5 and a beautiful Hale Bob silk dress, which retail for about $300, that I got for $6. My best deal EVER, though was about a year or so ago. I was at one of those places where you dig through bins and they charge by weight. I found a brand new, still tagged, Elie Tahari silk cocktail dress! The price tag still on it? $448! My cost? $.50! I have pictures of it in one of my early blog posts. I don't think I'll ever beat that one!
Pumpkin spice cupcake?! You're killing me here! Yum!

  4. Well you scored beautiful items head to toe. I love your boots and jewelry and I think I own the same exact one (or quite identical) red buffalo button-down. It will be on the blog very soon, maybe tomorrow. And I reminisce about my daughter's baby and early toddler days every day. She will be 5 in a month and I want to cry.
